Keep your USB Flash Drive Save Using File Dummy

Nowadays, most of people prefer to save their data in USB Flash Drive. Because its small, portable, and has large amount of memory. But by using it our computer become easier infected by viruses, trojans or worms because we often plug in and out in different computers.

But don’t worry about it, because we can use one trick to keep our FD and computer  safe. We can create file dummy in our FD. File dummy function in our FD is to make our FD full and make it like write protected. There are two ways to create file dummy.

First by using command prompt using fsutil command. Type this command in command prompt

fsutil file create new “D:\filedummy.dat” 123456789

  • “fsutil file create new”  >>  command
  • “D”  >>  drive name
  • “filedummy.dat”  >>  create new file (dummy file)
  • “123456789”  >>  storage amount (storage used)

Second is used dummy file maker. You can download it in here. Then run the program from your FD.

  1. Fill the File Name or Random Name
  2. Tick “Using all free space in current drive”
  3. Tick “Place file in sub folder” to place file in folder (the folder name like file name)
  4. Click create
  5. Your dummy file is created

I like this method to keep my FD save when I have a presentation or something that I should bring my file in my FD.
